Either [http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:CategoryTree CategoryTree], which seems to do want we want here, the other option is [http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:DynamicPageList DynamicPageList], which is more complicated, but is capable of doing a lot more stuff. They seem to be compatible with each other, so installing both seems like a good plan. Running a separate mediawiki instance for each language may be the better option (from a wiki-user perspective, anyway), but running a dozen or other instances that are guaranteed to end up as spam repositories isn't something that we need.
